Ideally To suit a 6mm diameter D shaped shaft. (See photo’s)
The knob has a textured finish and a knurled rim enabling a secure grip for precise adjustment.
Made from a tough poly
vinyl material
The ‘D’
socket on the knob is very sturdy, being reinforced with a tensile steel clip ring which permits a little flexing. The shaft pictured is 6mm across the flat part of the shaft which fits the knob perfectly, satisfactory results could possibly be achieved with a shaft between 5 and 7mm in diameter but purchasers please be aware the ideal is 6mm.
Please note:- When fitting the knob to a larger diameter shaft than 6mm, these knobs are so solidly put together that quite a lot of force is required.
If replacing a broken knob check that the D shaft is ideally 6mm to 6.5mm across the flat part of the shaft, because this knob’s D shaped socket is reinforced with a high tensile steel ring this is critical – any larger and the knob gets progressively more difficult to fit.
Also check that the shaft hasn’t
seized (quite often this is why the old knob breaks) if it moves freely then this replacement will be fine
The rotary switch we show in the photographs above has quite a stiff multi switching action which the knob copes with easily.
Dimensions:
Rim of knob 13mm deep.
38mm Diameter to outer edge
The D socket column is a approx 2mm below the outer rim of the knob if a straight edge is placed across from rim to rim.
Depth of socket for shaft approx 10mm
These knobs are multi-purpose, s
uiting applications from the precise adjustment of potentiometers and tuning controls on radio’s etc. to domestic appliance switches cookers, fires, etc.
Basically if the shaft you need a knob for looks like the one pictured above and the shaft diameter is 6 to 6.5mm, then problem solved.
