    Description

    The original Portland Mining Company was organized around 1890 to mine Zinc on the west slope of Sunset Peak ( near Wallace, Idaho) ;however the ore proved valueless & he mine closed in 1921. The company was reformed in 1940 in order to mine property at Sunset Peak. During the 40's Portland acquired Monitor Mining.
